Communities in 11 municipalities can now apply for a grant to implement sustainable water management practices so they can continue to use and participate at sport and recreation facilities.
The Sustainable Water Fund - Community Sport and Recreation Program has been allocated $2.3 million from the $10 million Drought Support Fund.
Funding is available for projects in the following local government areas:
- Ararat Rural City
- Buloke Shire
- Central Goldfields Shire
- Gannawarra Shire
- Hindmarsh Shire
- Horsham Rural City
- Loddon Shire
- Northern Grampians Shire
- Pyrenees Shire
- West Wimmera Shire
- Yarriambiack Shire
Councils, sporting clubs, recreational facility managers and schools from these municipalities are encouraged to apply for funding from this program.
Projects that may be considered are those that provide water security through harvesting rainwater, stormwater or use of recycled water for irrigating sports fields, planting drought resistant turf or investment in water efficient assets such as synthetic surfaces.
Funds of up to $150,000 per project will be available.
