Spatial data

Data.Vic

Data.Vic is the place to search, order and download Victorian Government open data.

You can access open data from across DTP including vector, aspatial tables and some raster datasets on the Data.Vic platform.

Launch Data.Vic

This includes Vicmap, Victoria’s authoritative state-wide foundational spatial data. Read more on Vicmap products in the Vicmap catalogue.

Vicmap Incremental Update Format (IUF)

Our Vicmap IUF feed allows for fast updates of selected Vicmap products with files that contain only the changed information, rather than entire revised datasets.

Read more on supporting products and formats in the Vicmap catalogue.

Licensing

Many datasets owned and managed by the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) are freely available under a Creative Commons license.

Aerial imagery and elevation datasets

You can access high-resolution aerial imagery and elevation (LiDAR point cloud) datasets by contacting a business that holds a commercial licence.

We have two types of commercial licensing:

  • Data Service Providers (DSPs) provide access to the source imagery or elevation data.
  • Value Added Retailers (VARs ) use the imagery and elevation data to create new products and services. This includes advisory services and new knowledge products.

If you are interested in becoming a DSP or VAR, see more information in commercial licensing.
