Scavenger hunt

A Ballarat-based environmental partnership has come up with a way for kids all over Victoria to connect with nature.

The Healthy and Active in Nature Alliance (HANA) has devised '13 Things to Do Before You’re 13', a scavenger hunt that is perfect for children and families to experience nature, subject to present coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.

You can download the details for the hunt here (PDF, 1.6mb).

The 13 things activity plan includes many great ways for kids to get outdoors close to home, experience nature and stay active.

The best part is that you can take part in the scavenger hunt activities just about anywhere.

About HANA

HANA was established in early 2020 with the aim of uniting partners from health and wellbeing sectors with land management and active recreation sectors to deliver a range of programs.

It aims for people in western Victoria to get active in nature and improve health and wellbeing across the region.

DELWP coordinates HANA in partnership with members from Ballarat Community Health, Ballarat Health Services, the City of Ballarat, the Hepburn Shire Council, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, headspace Ballarat, and Parks Victoria.

HANA meets on a monthly basis to collaborate on the promotion of healthy and active behaviours, strengthen community connections and encourage use of the outdoor environment to create healthy and vibrant communities.
