A panel of three administrators — Lydia Wilson, Peita Duncan and the Hon Bruce Billson — has been appointed to act as the Whittlesea City Council.
Ms Lydia Wilson will be chair of the panel and is the current interim administrator and former CEO at Manningham, Yarra and Macedon Ranges City Councils with over 25 years’ experience in public sector governance
Ms Peita Duncan is the chair of Greyhound Racing Victoria and board member for the Metropolitan Fire Brigade
The Hon Bruce Billson is the director of a consultancy business providing strategic policy and communications advice and served for 20 years as the federal member for Dunkley. He has also previously held several senior executive positions in local government, including as acting CEO of the Shire of Hastings.
These appointments will enable continuity in the council’s functions and ensure the community has an experienced panel of administrators to represent them.
The administrators will work as a team to ensure the council is governing in the best interests of the local community and meeting its statutory obligations.
The panel will act as the Council effective from 19 June 2020 until the next election for the council in 2024.
Whittlesea City Council was dismissed by the Victorian Parliament following the recommendation of a Municipal Monitor investigation into the council.
