This summer Victorians can connect to the coast in person or from anywhere in the state with iconic education program Summer by the Sea back for this school holidays.

The annual program, which Coastcare Victoria delivers with the support of providers, including government agencies, local experts and volunteer groups, includes in-person activities and a series of engaging online programs between 4 January and 5 February 2023.

Participants can expect fun and educational activities for all ages and abilities, including live events, video presentations and resources.

Some of the highlights for the 2023 program include:

  • Guided coastal walks with educational and subject matter experts along the coast from Narrawong to Walkerville
  • Guided rockpool tours and dinosaur discoveries
  • Accessible experiences including disabled snorkelling, and educational beach access walks
  • Live online events covering topics such as great white shark ecology, places to go snorkelling this summer, a panel on ways to help the coast, and more.
  • Videos covering a whole host of topics from marine mammal diversity research to Bass Coast Mangroves

Summer by the Sea activities will be held on the Country of many Traditional Owners from across the state.

Videos will be presented with captions in English and several other languages. Bookings are essential.
